Update

Homework for Monday:
Students are to complete the passe compose package they received on Wednesday.

Also students are to analyse a scene(s) from La Cantatrice Chauve using the characteristics of a play given to them at the beginning of the week.

They are to use the characteristics to explain the play (e.g. how do the stage directions/ narrations) explain a character.

Also- Why is the scene (scenes) important to the play as a whole?


Extra time after school to work on inquiry:

Reminder: Redpath Sugar Factory trip tomorrow 8 FI A

Tomorrow (11/08/2017) is our trip to Red Path Sugar Factory. We will be leaving here at 9 am to start the program at 10 am. It will last approximately 2 hours. We will then walk for lunch to the St. Lawrence Market, and then return to Cosburn.

Please dress weather appropriate, bring money for lunch (or a bagged lunch) and remember TTC tickets.

Also, reminder for science presentations will take place Thursday and Monday. 
Drama tableaux will be presented on Friday at the Remembrance Day Assembly.

Drama Groups + Battles

Each group is required to write 5 sentences for their battle assigned to them (ie one sentence per person). It is to be a summary in 5 sentences. Group leaders below, please post the photo on a google doc and start your research and paragraph for Wednesday's Drama class. It can be done in English.



Tableau practices will be happening over the next week.

Parents feel free to come to the assembly next Friday @ 10:30!

Geo Presentations @ RH McGregor

Dear Parents,

On Wednesday November 1st 2017, 8 FI A will be going to RH McGregor E.S. to present their Geography Guided Inquiry Project, about sustainability in East York, to the grade 5 French Immersion classes. We will be leaving Cosburn @ 12:40 P.M., and starting our presentations at 12:55 until approximately 1:55 P.M.

Once we are finished, we will do DPA outside, depending on the weather, and then returning to Cosburn.  

Permission forms are not needed since the walking distance is less than 2 km away. Puffers and Epipens must be brought with students as needed.

Science Pressure Readings & Quiz Info

Preliminary test date: Thursday October 19th 2017.  Format 15 multiple choice questions (True and False as well) 

What you need to know:

-Fluids (what are they? different types, characteristics)
-What is viscosity..examples
-Flow rate
-Density/Buoyancy/ Archimedes' Principle

-Pressure 


Students may bring a calculator.. smart phone is fine but if used for searching up concepts during the quiz, the quiz will be taken away.

Trip Forms: Redpath Sugar Factory

Walking Excursion Trip

            
On  Friday October 13th we will visit the Cosburn Art Centre to view the Pop up Museum display at 2:00 PM. The classes will visit the display in 40 min blocks from 9:30 am til 2:30 pm. The students will be accompanied by staff and have a short visit to view displays provided by East York Historical Society,  Ekfrassi "Gramma's Treasure Box", East End United Regional Ministry, East York "Then and Now" Photo exhibit of Photographer George Dunbar.

The entrance point is 1108 Greenwood (double glass doors). October 14th is the actual special event with all exhibits open and the reveal of the Photo Wall will occur at 3pm.  It is hoped that the wall will travel around EY schools and the Civic Centre in the coming months.

Our students will get a sneak peak of all this Oct 13.

This is during our art period, therefore students will get a makeup art period this afternoon.

Geographie- Carte choropleth

Students have learned how to draw and analyze a choropleth map. They were given the population and area of the countries in South America, and they are asked to complete a choropleth map of South America.

Curriculum expectation: A3.7-demonstrate the ability to analyse and construct choropleth maps on topics related to human settlement
